 Little Red Riding Hood Cartoon

This social cartoon by Mark Parisi depicts a 'modern day' adaptation of the Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood as he speaks to a younger wolf. The ever so common phrase "back in my day" that makes younger generations cringe (or, like the comic suggests, roll their eyes) is presented here in a comedic light.
The fear and anxiety that is produced when reading the original tale is now condensed into a silly image of wolves picking up a box of  "Frozen Grandmother" from the grocery store.

In some ways, this cartoon also represents a criticism towards the ease and laziness of America today. Not only in the way we eat -- fast food, frozen dinners, etc. but also in our need for instant gratification that has come about with the technological wave.

I can relate to this cartoon because sometimes I catch myself feeling impatient or stressed in moments that it is not necessary. Attending college can have this effect on individuals too because classes and schedules are so fast paced. With this is mind, I have learned to slow down and reevaluate certain situations to become more patient and relaxed. This comic presents this notion in a fun way.

I also enjoy this cartoon because I like the way in which Parisi took the serious, cautionary and sometimes gruesome tale and transformed it into an abstract piece of comedy that its audience can relate to.
